ABSTRACT

This research is carried out to learn of 1) the network
and relations of the politicians, 2) the roles these politicians
have taken and their relationships with the political parties,
and 3) the political campaign performance of the Surat Thani
politicians. 4) the acknowledge backgrounds and works of
local politicians. As a qualitative research, the key tools ap-
plied comprised ideologies, theories, and related researches.
Moreover, a number of people concerned with these politi-
cians as well as Surat Thani general people were interviewed
for their politicians' backgrounds, networks and relations they
have had with these politicians, techniques employed to cam-
paign for votes, and the parties being elected in Surat Thani.
It was found that, regarding their background, most of
these politicians have been local politicians under Phak
Prachathipat or the Democrat Party. The party, one of the
oldest existing parties in the country, was founded long ago.
It has been distinctive and obtrusive policies. Hence the party
has a lot of both adherents and partisans. What's more, the
party can truly act for the people when in trouble. With regard
to the network and relations with the party, the politicians
have established such a good relationships with their party in
the way of political successors or relatives the ones having
been fastened on to the Democrat Party. Those who want to
be local politicians are to be picked and chosen by the party;
this conforms to party's motto: "The party picks out its repre-
sentatives and people decided on the party." In addition, the
