Group Discussion 2: Establishing Political Stability for Bridging
the
Inequality
Gap
A stable political system is an important component for the quality of
democracy. If the political system is not stable with no thorough and fair involvement
from various sectors, there will be a tendency of extreme social inequality, which is a
major obstacle to the embedding of democracy in the society.
Group Discussion 2 is founded on the belief that a stable and consistent political
system supports various sectors to negotiate fair allocation of resources.
The discussion involves qualified persons in the field sharing their academic knowledge
and practice to be applied to the analysis of the mechanisms in the political system,
especially under the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand 2017. The analysis is to
seek the view on allocating power to various sectors and mechanisms to resolve
political inequality. Policy recommendations should be made for Thai politics for all
Thai people. Mechanisms of political institutions and political monitoring organizations,
bureaucracy, political culture, political behaviors, and other related elements will be
analyzed to contribute suggestions to the political system for bridging the inequality
gap and creating justice for Thai society.

Quality
of
Democracy
In the countries governed by democracy, there will be a capitalist or a free
market economy as the basic principle in the regime. The nature of these economic
systems consist of private ownership of production factors and full power of economic
decisions to enable economic growth and help increase the national average income.
At the same time, an increase of incomes in the population in various democratic
countries will result in the problem of “economic inequality”, which occurs around the
world and continues to intensify in terms of inequality among cities and rural areas,
industrial and agricultural sectors, and people with high and low incomes. The phrase
in Thai society, “centralized wealth and dispersed poverty” can be confirmed in reality
