The Sixth Challenge:
Peace Society

A desirable society is a peaceful society where the people can
live happily and peacefully. There is no violence and they all accept
diversity. However, over the past ten years, there have been violent
political events leading to death and loss of property, and conflicts have
occurred in every level of society. Every cabinet has tried to design
mechanisms and policy to reconcile Thai society. The expansion of
conflict situations into violence and the lack of good management from
every part of Thai society have resulted in a situation where conflicts
still exist and might cause violence in the future.

There are several approaches to create reconciliation, such as
focusing on building relationships, and on structures and institutions. The
relationship-building approach creates a good atmosphere in society by
organizing dialogue that will lead to collaboration. The structural and
institutional approach is to establish an institution to reduce the negative
